I managed to drink about 64 ounces of water yesterday. I felt bloated and like I was gonna float away! Scott brought home some flavored water from Walmart last night so maybe that will make it easier.
David had his first driver's ed class last night. Apparently he made quite an impression on the instructor because he came out afterwards to talk to Scott. They showed a film about a wreck where a guy was beheaded and I guess my wonderful son started laughing! It's no wonder my hair's turning gray!
Just got back from the doctor's office. My blood pressure was up slightly but not dangerously so, and my glucose is running between 140 and 150 in the morning which isn't great but also passable. He does want it lower but he's not changing my meds. Nope, he's says eat less (I don't eat anything now!) and work out more (weights 3x a week now, and 7 miles on my bike, 6x a week and he wants MORE?)and lots and lots more water. Yippee.
Had a great day shopping today. Went to Kroger's for cigs (a bit cheaper than Wallyworld) and found asiatic lilies for 5.99, last week they were 10.99. Then it was off to Wallyworld for groceries and as we walked in they had clearance carts full of basket sets by rubbermaid. 2 woven baskets in a set, originally 13.97, marked down to $2!!!!!! I got 2 sets, one blue for Sabrina's room and one peachy/orange set that I'm not sure what I'm going to do with yet. Decided I was going to grab some more of them after we got groceries and I had some money left, but just my luck, they were all gone. As we were checking out Scott discovered that the bottle of dish detergent we'd picked up was broken so I went back to get another one. On my way back to the register I discovered a sweater that I'd been looking at for months, at 14.97, was marked down to $3!
Since it doesn't look like Journey is going to comment on the recent rumors, it's now back to real life!
Scott had a good Father's Day I think. I bought him this buffer/polisher thing he wanted and a Buckcherry CD and made him a big ham dinner (he could live on ham, steak, hamburgers and meatloaf!) and Brittany got him a mug that says world's greatest dad. We spent most of the day listening to his new CD at earsplitting levels. Ick. I must be getting old because I just can't stand music that loud anymore!
David is finally going to start driver's ed next week. I can't believe how freaking expensive it is! He'll have 4 weeks of classes, 2 nights a week and then 4 2 hour in car lessons which the instructor said he could do within a week, so he should have his license by the time he goes back to school.
Not much else going on, which is a good thing I guess. I hope everyone has a good week!
Well all's still quiet on the Journey front. The mods did finally open up one of the threads on the Back Talk board about the situation though. They'd been closing them as fast as someone would start one. I tried to register but unfortunately you have to have a paid email service and I don't have one.
After listening to some of the clips that were posted on the blog that I linked to in my previous post I was pretty discouraged and ready to believe that this rumor was true. Now however I'm not so sure. I've read rockndeano's blog and his posts on the Melodicrock message boards and it just seems like he has an axe to grind for some reason. Also the girl who posted the links on DL's forum says that now "both bands are dead" to her. I swear I just wish Journey would say something. I'm so confused and frustrated!
I just read a new thread on DL's forum, pertaining to Journey and some things that have been going on. If any of this is true, and it looks like it might be, what does this mean for the tour? An even bigger question in my mind, what will this do to the Lep's credibility?
I updated some of my links on my sidebar. I also added some links under Celebrity blogs. The first is a link to Ross Halfin's site and diary. I'm sure most of you know who he is! I also added a link to Wil Wheaton's blog. You might remember him as the teenage boy on Star Trek:The Next Generation. Now he's "Just A Geek". I find his blog to be funny, insightful and inspiring. The last new link is to Nigel's blog. This one's a hoot! See Nigel is not a real person, but a character on Crossing Jordan! Check it out, his video clips are hilarious!
Things have been so quiet here there's just not much to post about. David's OGT scores came in earlier this week and he place in the advanced category on three parts and accelerated on 2 so we're really proud of him. He's decided not to graduate early. He wants to get as many credits as he can so that his college applications will look better. He really wants to get into Soka University, which is in California. Of course I cry every time he mentions being so far away.
Shadow's tummy is better and all of the rest of the beasts are doing well. Ruby and Bear are starting to have trouble getting up and down the steps due to their advanced age but that's to be expected I guess. I recently realized that in the next 5 years it's very likely that we'll go from having 11 pets to only one or two, something that I have very mixed emotions about. One one hand, if they could all live forever nothing would make me happier and I dread losing any one of them. On the other, I have to admit it will be nice to not have so much responsibility and work. A large chunk of my day is devoted to caring for them.
I've been trying to get geared up for the upcoming Lep shows. I'm kind of funny that way though. Sometimes I don't get excited until the actual day of the show. I am however very excited about another show Chrissy and I are going to this summer. RICK SPRINGFIELD! I've never seen him live, though I've had a couple of chances to, and he was one of my early teen crushes. This is one show where I'm definitely staying after to hang out by the buses! Chrissy, ya think meeting Joe made me nervous? Ha! Put me face to face with Rick and I probably will pass out!
I didn't really feel like cooking tonight so I decided I'd do something easy. David and Scott both looked at me like I was crazy (they're both meat and potatoes kind of guys) but I made omelets for supper and man did they turn out good. I might just have do this more often!
Someone from San Francisco hit my blog hard this evening, coming from my myspace blog. They spent nearly an hour perusing my archives. Whoever you are, I'm glad you found my life so interesting, and please feel free to leave a comment next time.
I tried to post yesterday but blogger was being a butthead and wouldn't let me!
Shadow is still sick. He was up every hour, night before last needing to go out so I got absolutely no sleep. Thanks goodness he only need out once last night. The exact same thing happened at Christmas so I dont know what's going on. He gets severe diarrhea but he's eating and drinking normally, and he doesn't have a fever. Time for a visit to the vet tomorrow if he's not any better.
In other news......
Not much really! :) I put some more stuff up on my ebay store yesterday and I got the spring cleaning done in the living room this week. I found three tupperware coasters that we'd been missing for over a year. They were down in the sides of the couch, underneath the seat cushions. I really should clean more often!
I've been spending a lot of time posting on Metal Sludge. The nicey-nice atmosphere on the OF is just too boring for me, at least right now. Maybe I'm just in a hateful mood!
I've been putting off spring cleaning the 3 main rooms of the house simply because I've been feeling lazy. Today however I decided to start the living room, which usually takes me 2 days. I get the ceiling and 2 walls done and decide to quit until tomorrow. I get stuff picked up and put out of the way so we have some place to sit, and then turn around to see Shadow squatting in the middle of the floor CRAPPING!
Not just any crap either. Nasty, green, watery stuff it is. So now instead of relaxing, I get to race to get him out the door all evening or clean up yucky stuff. Keep in mind he weighs about 150 pounds so it's not small piles either!
Well sort of. I didn't mention it here though I did post about it on the rant thread on DL's forum but a week ago today we had our lawnmower stolen. It was exactly 2 years to the day since we'd had another lawnmower and my bike stolen! I reported it but figured it would be like last time and nothing would happen. 2 years ago I found my bike and called the police back but they told me there was no way to prove that it was mine and they wouldn't do anything.
WE got a tip about where the lawnmower from this theft might be so we drove by and I'll be darned if it wasn't sitting in the front yard, with a for sale sign on it! Scott was fuming and insisted on calling the police yet again. I figured we'd get the same song and dance that we got 2 years ago.
Bless their hearts, we got 2 officers who were real good guys. They went down to the house (less than a block away BTW) talked to the older lady who lives there loaded up the lawnmower and brought it home! Her story was that it had just "shown up" in their yard. Um yeah.
The funny part is, we actually have 2 mowers. One we bought after the theft 2 years ago, and then one that Scott's friend Larry gave to us because it was broke and he thought we might be able to use it for parts. Scott spent $20 and fixed it and it runs like new, though it looks like junk. Guess which mower got stolen? Yup, the $20 one!
David technically only has one more day of school. The actual last day is Thursday but they're having finals on Tuesday and Wednesday and since he passed all of his OGT's he doesn't have to take any therefore he doesn't have to be there. Thursday they realy won't be doing anything so he probably won't go then either.
I'll be glad when this school year is through. I've had to get up at 5 this year because of the screwed up bus schedule. Next year the public school district has shortened it's schedule by an hour so hopefully we won't have to get up so dang early.
David is also hoping to be able to graduate next year. It looks like he'll have all the credits he needs except 1 and they're working on a way for him to be able to get it too. The guidance counselor has suggested some independent study courses for that course so that all he'd have to do is take a final exam. I'm excited for him but at the same time I don't know if I'm ready for this. I don't think I'm gonna like being an empty nester!
Chrissy and I went out for a bit again last night and as usual we had a blast. We spent a good bit of time making fun of Phil and Sav and their new "drag queen" looks. Sorry but it's more than a bit over the top! We shopped Target and Wallyworld looking for stuff to throw onstage in Cincy, you know, eyeliner, waxes, girl stuff! :) Of course we also had to get in a few digs about Phil's love life. Yes I know, we were beingcatty. Someone on Sludge referred to M as looking like the backend of a bulldog and catty or not, I have to agree. Ick. Hey it's my blog I can say what I want!!!
Cute guy count didn't get very high unfortunately last night. I think we made it up to 2. Hey just because I'm on a diet doesn't mean I can't look at the menu! We didn't get kicked out of anyplace though I swear, when that particular Applebee's sees us coming the waitstaff run for cover.
So all in all we had a great evening and managed to do it without spending a shitload of money (not counting the VIP packages we bought before we left my house). I did find a camo miniskirt to go with a green tank top I've had forever and never had anything to go with it.
